I just got in trouble for not sitting in the middle seat in the car. "Ladies are supposed to sit in the middle"

How does this make any sense is it wrong I like the window

The only car seating etiquette I can find remotely like that is that the youngest is usually the one getting the middle seat in the back regardless of gender. On a bright note, the middle back seat is the safest one in the car!
