Do your children try and Defy you in front of your parents? Because grandma will defend them? 馃

Ha my son just tried that with me. It didn't work.
Grandma (my mom) did try and defend her grandson (my oldest is her favorite) and it didn't work. I reminded her that challenging my authority over my kids in front of them will do nothing but give them the idea that they don't always have to follow rules or do as their parents ask, or worst case make them combative with me when it comes to doing as I ask or following rules that they might not like.
I also had to remind her that if she wouldn't stick up for the rest of the other grand children in the same manner than she was clearly being biased and that is not fair to my eldest (who will be set up for huge disappointment when he doesn't get his way anyways and gets in trouble for defying me) or to my other son and nieces who have to follow rules anyways and don't get a pity party when they don't like it.

She realized that she made a mistake.
That's the first time ever I had a productive parenting conversation with my mom.
