Why do parents think they still got control over their grown children?

I love my parents and respect their rules but I can make my own choices and they can't tell me what to do. My dad says there isn't anything wrong listening for advice and I should and just because I'm an adult doesn't mean I'm always right and know what I'm always doing and just because I got money don't mean I know how to spend it (he's right about the money part). He said if I stop picking fights with people and acting all sassy and childish then people would treat me more seriously and even some teens act more mature than me and it's very pathetic and sad. I couldn't say a word after that and he said, "Don't look at me like that. That's the truth and you have no respect for others whatsoever and you think people are against you but we're trying to help. You're just too stubborn to ask for it."

Well Dana, he might have a point in that there isn't anything wrong listening for advice. Just because you're an adult doesn't mean your always right and know what you're always doing.

There were several things my parents tried to tell me, that turned out to be very difficult and painful lessons for me. Just because I had graduated from college, and they had not, did not mean that they didn't have life lessons I could have learned from.
