you know what’s always been really sad to me?

growing up it was so clear on my dad’s side of the family that i was the least favorite grandkid. two of my aunts treated me with so much love and kindness, and for that i’ll always be grateful. but for the most part, i hated going to family functions on that side because you could feel the difference. no matter the circumstances, every single child deserves the same love, the same effort, the same energy. if you treat your kids, step kids, grandkids, great grandkids, etc any differently than the others, you are the problem. they will notice as they grow, and it will hurt them. and if this offends anyone, that’s something you need to reflect on because it’s not okay and i will never tolerate it as their mother.
