Are you fairly close your parents? Why or why not?

I was close to my father but he passed away when I was 6. I was not close to my mother. I never knew why. She always treated me like a burden. I would tell her all the time that I loved her but she rarely ever said back. When she did It was like she was rolling her eyes. I was there when she passed away holding her in my arms as she took her last breath.
