Smelly Sweat Stained mattress

My teen son’s mattress is the major source of the smell in his room. Is there a practical way to deep clean the set in sweat stains ?

The thing is the only way to get rid of the smell is to deep clean the mattress and let it dry but it’s not that practical imo because he would literally have to sleep somewhere else for a few days depending how long it would take to dry out. I mean, we can do that. Sure. But, I would only want to go through all the effort of cleaning it, if it works out lol

Otherwise, I am strongly considering throwing the whole mattress out.

Any serious advice, cleaning tips are welcome. Also, do you think it’s even worth cleaning or should I just throw it out ?

Much appreciated :)

If you are wanting to maybe get a little more life out of it, you could go over a few times with a carpet shampooer. That might help. Maybe.

Then just yeah once it dries, just throw on a matress pad and wash it regularly.

I think new mattresses cost a small fortune, I understand not wanting to replace.

My gyod I think they are like $1,000 brand new, I remember in the year 2000, we bought a complete brand new bed. It included box spring, mattress, and steel frame bed support all for like $600.
@HoeBag Box spring is a gimmick, you don't need that. Buy a bed from IKEA, they have amazing matresses that sit on slats and are amazing to sleep on. Get one with the thickest memory foam on top. Not that expensive and easy to transport as they come rolled up.
