Why does everyone assume that they would win over a kid every time?

If your 7 year old came up to you and wanted to have an arm wrestling contest, or a running race down the hall, what game would you play,, and how good of a chance would your child have in winning if both of you played your best?

Not sure it's about playing your best, well at least not your fastest or strongest.
Sometimes it's about their empowerment.
Sometimes kids like to win against their parents to feel like they are progressing and growing up.

@NOS4R2 so why don’t they just play then? Because the child can prove that they can win, then they would feel really good because they actually won against their parent who was actually trying in the arm wrestling

@ImaNEWparent I don't know.
Not every parent parents the same. Maybe not every parent wants to? Maybe not every parent is in touch with their inner child?
