I'm not sure how to be relevant to my 10-year-old

She loves computers and as a computer engineer, this should give us a lot in common, but it hasn't really worked that way. Well today she needed help replacing some 3d modelling software that was discontinued. So I agreed to help her and applied my methodical and pedantic system for selecting software, and partway through, announced she had lost interest. 🤷🏻‍♂ I'm sure there was a better way to handle that, and I couldn't have figured it out myself in a million years

That's about the age my daughter was when she decided she didn't want anything to do with me any more and my two sons both started to become very combative mentally.
But now five years later they are both getting on with the things I taught them how to do but they seldom ask me for help.
I miss them wanting to do everything with me.
