Not applicable to me but when my niece came out, my parents were wonderful. My sister (her mother) was a bit more awkward, but she came around.
My mother told my niece,
"We love you and whoever you love is welcome here, as long as they treat you well."
My sister’s reaction: "But she’s so pretty !"
Mom (rolled her eyes): "Even I know that’s not how it works !"
