How old should a kid be before you tell the truth about Santa?

I think there should be a line to draw somewhere as I hear of kids getting to 7th grade still believing. At that point is a parent selfish in preserving the "innocence"?

I don't think they ever *need* to "believe" in the first place. He can be just as much fun without the charade.
