Do you think some parents sugarcoat too much shit to their kids?

I know I’m not a parent but just curious. It’s like some people say their parents are being “mean” to their kids for speaking the truth. Um…HELLO?! That’s what parents are SUPPOSED to do? If they lie and sugarcoat shit to kids then it will effect their futures and they won’t trust their parents. My parents didn’t sugarcoat anything. They call it as it is and they WILL speak the truth either you like it or not. Lol. But that’s what I love about them. I guess I got my brutal honesty from them. Both my brother and I tell it like it is and outspoken.
Honestly, kids need parents that will tell it like it is. Stop sugarcoat shit to make the kids happy. They’re not responsible for their feelings. Are they? Just a thought. It’s like cartoons nowadays sugarcoat things. I mean yes it DEPENDS on a child’s age but if they’re like older kids like junior high and high school, they’re old enough to hear the ugly truth, even it it hurts. Tell them!

I tried not to sugar coat anything, facts and the total truth. How can a child become more responsible and develop good judgement without knowing the truth? Life isn't fair, sometimes "your best" isn't going to be good enough. Sometimes you get fired just because someone doesn't like you, there is only one 1st place. Even if you work harder than the other guy, he or she may get a better promotion or raise because of politics or the "good old boys" network. You will fail at something, keep getting back up when you fall.
