I don't put hard limits on it but I encourage them to do other things. Screens are not the devil.

We never limit their time anymore. Our rule is homework first. They are both teens now. We did limit it to 2 hours when they were younger. We do subscribe to Net Nanny so we can monitor their activity. The best part us we can block any sites that we do not want them to use.

I would be pretty strict with screen time 😭 I didn't have a smart phone until 7th grade and I was so much happier as a kid, it was definitely a blessing in disguise
I probably wouldn't limit video games or computers though, but phones are so awful for kids imo 😭

@PetalsOfLilac My daughters didn't get phones until 14 years old. And being tech savvy, I had their computers to not allow internet access through the router after 9 pm weekdays. My girls had a military father too. Haha

@SW-User I get it, honestly though, I turned out to be a really good kid, not too toot my own horn, but sneaking up past bed time to play on computer was the best time ever as a kid 😂
Although I did it when we wouldn't have school but we still had a bed time anyway and got in a lot of trouble if we were up for some reason 😂

@PetalsOfLilac You should always toot your own horn and maintain confidence. That is far different than bragging. But stand up for yourself. Always.

My daughters got phones as preteens (maybe 10 to 12) but they weren't smart phones at first. Maybe at most an hour of computer time was allowed. Later in high school I allowed them smart phones.
