Can a 12 year old get depressed?

For the past 4 months I have seen a big change in my daughter ! Shes seems to be depressed. Like can 12 year olds actually be depressed ? What signs should I look for ? I am really worried about her !! Should I take her to see a doctor? Counsellor? I'm so stressed about this .. and when I try to talk to her about this . She snaps at me !! :(

Yes it could be depression or maybe hormones.
Has she got friends etc or is she withdrawing. If so try talking to her but not overly.
Watch her moods & if shes losing interest in her usual things. Id suggest she goes to the Dr.

@Ifollowmyownstar Do you think its possible shes being bullied as it rife in schools. My son was badly bullied years ago. It changed him. Hes older now but I think the scars are there.
