Was it common to share a bed with a sibling when you were growing up?

It was normal in the USA when my grandma was growing up, and normal In England when my mom was growing up there.
Since I have eight siblings, I share a room, but also a bed with one of my sisters. One of her friends just come over and said, "oh. Like little house on the Prairie" 😂

@Whiterosesociety I wonder though if it was genetically an issue back in those times with the population being a lot smaller. I wonder as the population grew we evolved and don’t need to stay so close to populate.
