I don't have children.
But at my job, I see so many clients 'unable' to work, because they have a small child.
We can help pay for childcare temporarily, however, the parent has to pay after that is up. Many are not able to.

So they rely on/wait for government assistance.

I wish we had a daycare here.
I see some that truly want to work. I see others who just want handouts.

I mean every situation is different. I think if you are a working parent making under a certain amount of money per year there should be government subsidies in place to help you, especially if you're a single mother/father. I mean yes of course you're going to have the typical welfare queens that are trying to defraud the system every which way they can but even if that's the case I'm not sure depriving actual needy people of assistance is the best way to go. It's definitely easy to say, well if you can't afford a child don't have one, but that doesn't really do anything for the situation at hand. Giving some help to people who are trying to the the best they can in not the best situation I think is the best outcome there is. I'm not sure what the alternative is other than having the government take away the child and put them into foster care but I think that would cost even more resources and it increases the likely hood of the same thing happening in the future.
