Is it safe for me to be at home?

I recently learned that my brother has started having really bad panic attacks and thoughts of hurting himself or others. He can’t sleep at night, is depressed, and hasn’t been eating much. Though so far he’s been good about letting us know when he feels this way and tells my family to lock up our weapons, I’m worried he may snap and it may not be safe to be around him at night. (His attacks usually occur at night.) Apparently when he has these thoughts and attacks, he is unable to sleep and doesn’t want to be alone for fear of harming himself. We are currently looking in to getting him help, and maybe I’m being paranoid, but I don’t feel safe being at home at night when he’s there. If my door is locked and weapons are locked up, should everyone be okay? Or should I be worried?

You shouldn’t be worried. Your door is locked. It’s good the weapons are locked up if he sometimes suicidal. But he needs help immediately.
Why don’t you have him try antidepressants, possibly mood stabilizers and panic disorder meds, and 5mg of melatonin and some l-theanine at night?

He’d have to see a psychiatrist first.@ShaythePanTransMan

@sabrinarose I know, and he needs to see one as soon as possible. However, the l-theanine and melatonin he can try now.
