What is a fond memory of one of your parents?

Thinking about those who have lost a parent and are missing them.

My mom could meet someone at the laundromat and have a great friendship that would last for years. I never appreciated her empathy for everyone she met until years later. I can still see her smil, thinking she was the one being blessed while blessing a complete stranger. Amazing.

I miss my mother's sense of humor. She loved the birds and they loved her. They would always greet her when she came outside. Some would eat from her hand.

Her favorite was the male cardinal. Today a male cardinal sat on a branch just outside my window and stayed there for several minutes.

That made me smile and think of her.

@SweetMae what a gift she had. The birds see something we can’t, but it sounds like you experienced it in her laugh and her love. I will appreciate cardinals more now. 🙂
@SweetMae wow! That's simply amazing....

@trackman11 We put a St Francis of Assisi statue on her grave.

@Vivaci She feed racoons out of her hand too.
@SweetMae awww....such a gentle soul! 😍💓😘

I used to have a family of 5 wild squirrels who ate from my lap in my previous home. I sometimes pray that they're safe and somebody is feeding them. They used to love peanuts in the shell...lol

@Vivaci That is so caring of you. I hope they are safe too! I feed the birds now.

@Vivaci I have a groundhog you can have! 😀

@trackman11 I already have two of those. Some deer too.
@trackman11 Awww...😍 I'd love him....🤗☺️

@SweetMae I bet you do, Mae... you're a lot like your mom, from what you've told us. 💗😘

@SweetMae what’s one more? He lives in my woodshed and my cat has been sizing him up. I don’t think it’s going to end well.

@Vivaci you may come and pick him up anytime. He’s bigger than the rabbits and a lot smarter; he’s smaller than the beavers and generally a lot drier. Don’t want you to sweet talk the wrong critter. Lol

@trackman11 😲 That could end badly
@trackman11 @SweetMae 😯 oh geez! 🙈

😄 Ok, I see the urgency there ...

@SweetMae it actually ended with some white cat fur around his den, but fortunately the cat showed up intact and hopefully a little wiser?

We have two cats who are indoor/ outdoor coexisting with nature. They rule mice, moles and rabbits, sadly an occasional bird ( my cats are truly serial killers) but groundhogs, coyotes, foxes, deer and the occasional wolf are to be avoided at all cost! Lol
