Would you disown a relative if you find out they are a ped0phile?

I would disown a relative if I found out they had victimized a child, either through consumption of child pornography or actual molestation. I would not disown a relative if he/she realized they had this attraction to children and therefore sought psychological help, and didn't hurt anyone.

@BlueVeins ok. I see. My question is what causes them to have that type of attraction?
BlueVeins · 22-25
@AkAtSUki I sure as Hell don't know. Could be genetics, could be trauma, could be some neural structure randomly forming wrong for any of a billion reasons. In the scheme of things, it matters very little, at least to this question in particular. The important thing is that we protect our children and the best way to do that is by encouraging non-offenders to seek help and by apprehending offenders.

@BlueVeins what if they don't believe they have a problem. Some pedos think there's nothing wrong with them. What can be done then?
BlueVeins · 22-25
@AkAtSUki If they haven't done anything and don't believe they have a problem, I think my best options are to try my absolute hardest to convince them to seek help and to send a tip to law enforcement. I don't think law enforcement can technically do anything other than watch them more closely, since having a malformed brain isn't exactly illegal.

All that having been done, I would probably try to gather evidence such as through an audio recording, withdraw direct communication barring a serious change in attitude, warn everyone else about the issue, and call it a day. That kind of person is a ticking time bomb, but my power there is finite.

I have absolutely nothing to corroborate this theory. But my opinion is that there may be several types of paedophile.

And for one type of paedophile in particular some of it appears to be centred on self-loathing greed and envy.

They despise themselves - for reasons that may or may not have anything to do with paedophilia. And when they see the innocence of a child they become envious and want to possess that innocence themselves, in the belief that the child's innocence would somehow make them a better person.

It doesn't of course. But I think that's the way some of them think. It's the only explanation I know of that ties in with their often stated claim to admire/love the innocence of children.

@ThePerfectUsername that was a very thorough explanation. Thanks for your input Sir! 👏

You're welcome. I know their must be other reasons/explanations beside that one but I have little comprehension of what they might be. @AkAtSUki
