The family I know "IS" my family regardless of where we came from. If you have lived a truth, why would it matter that the origin was a lie?

@OwnerOfMany I love the positivity in your answer. Simply Beautiful.
What about the family you didn't get to know, tho? The 'other' side?

@LETICIA I am a product of not only family but of time. I was born into the life I knew as a child and through time, teaching, and circumstance I am what I am, I believe what I believe, and I know what I know.
I do not dwell on what may have been or could have been I only remember what was. I did not have an easy life growing up but I would not change anything if I could. I would not be "me" if I did.
There were many people I did not know, the ones that matter are the ones I did know. Both good and bad shaped me, taught me, and created what I am.

@OwnerOfMany i agree with that... i've had to cut certain people out of my life for the sake of my own health. These people are "family" based on blood line - though i'm much better and happier with the family that i have chosen for myself and i've been clear that i don't plan on going back there through my own choice in the matter.
