How much effort do you expend explaining/justifying rules to your kids? On a scale of 1 (none) to 5 (as much as they might demand).

@whowasthatmaskedman exactly... justifying to your kids just seems unnecessary and silly.

@SW-User Right. Childrens brains mature slowly. and with experience. Consequences they get quite early. Way before Right and wrong.

@whowasthatmaskedman yes and once old enough to understand will know to obey and won't need such an Explanation.

@SW-User Teens can be pretty persistent in demanding explanations.

@Stephanie1975 What can I tell you?? Starting early is best.. But if you missed that boat you will need to provide a couple of clear examples. By landing heavily on one who pushes it and making it stick. NEVER make the mistake of threatening anything you wont carry out. You dont have to be nice, fair or even right. But you do have to make it stick.
I told my kids when they were young about their badly behaved elder brother who was buried in the concrete under the front doorstep.
My daughter now repeated that story to her kids. Of course they dont believe. But they pay attention when we speak.
