My parents were pretty wild. I had plenty of freed0m, but I also got plenty of beatings. I was allowed to drop acid, and do other drugs with them from the age of seven. They thought they were opening my "third eye" . My grandparents ended up getting custody of me and I got to live like an average American middle class kid for 4 years until I cut the apron strings and joined the Army.

They were a strange contradiction. Serious outer fringe hippies that did more crazy stuff than I ever dreamed of, but my step dad was a militant disciplinarian. He believed in old fashion beatings, and there were times when I was beaten black and blue from the small of my back to the backs of my calves. At the same time I was allowed to do things that would have scared normal parents to death, and I joined them on all their psychedelic journeys. They believed the hallucinogenics would "open my third eye". I ran away at 14 and got sanctuary with my grandparents.

Strict. One time my father chased me miles with the fire stoker. True story!

Maybe a 3. My dad is probably higher, but I didn't live with him, so he's irrelevant.
