Hey parents is it true that new born babies were hidious when they first come out?

My cousin said brutally bluntly that her kids were ugly is hell when they came out. I mean it's true it's gross when they first come out but afterwards she said they're cute.
That's kind of harsh to say that but if babies are hidious then there's no use of sugarcoating it. I don't want an ugly baby.
