Is it wrong that I don't want to go to religious family events?

I was raised Catholic but I found that I had a better way of life if I forgot about God.
I have always said that I am an atheist since the age of 16.
I know that most of my family is still somewhat religious but I just feel to uncomfortable when being asked to go to a church to watch a child being indoctrinated into a cult.

To toss it out there, you may want to check out the "Atheist" group on Reddit. Lots of people face the same issue and there's some pretty good advice. It's a tough one. I've faced it a few times with Catholic funerals which, at least in my experience, have very little to do with the individual who died or their family members. It's really messed up. But sometimes we have to put ourselves in the backseat. As atheists that's something that comes with the territory. Sometimes you need to look at the bigger picture.
