There is vast difference between a smack for the good of a child and actual child abuse.
I was smacked and it did me no harm, I would smack my own children, and I had to smack my god-daughter to prevent her sticking a fork into an electric socket, with the full support of her parents.
Thinking these little smacks and taps are abusive is just bloody ridiculous and yet another example of our 'nanny state' and soft-minded individuals.

a smack /a tap on the outer palm and smack to keep them to behave is different, a tap is OK, yes what your god-daughter did, was different you were stopping her from killing herself... thats a bit different to just keep them only behaved
