How would you react to this situation?

Situation: *Your dog rolled in the mud and you're fine with it but decide to wash her with your mom's help* *mom's boyfriend comes home* "hey hey, what are you doing? I don't see no dirt, what is this?" Mom: "she was just rolling and playing in the dirt we just needed to clean her up a little." him: "so what? I don't see anything, what're you trying to do? make this some sort of performance? You guys shouldn't have done that. Honestly you guys are just being dramatic, you should just stop." Mom: " she was dirty! she was going to rub dirt all over the sofa and the floor." him: "i don't see no dirt.. like i said, you guys are just being dramatic, but if you want to be control freaks, be control freaks, you trying to make a point here? i don't care, i don't agree with this but you know that's just my opinion." -sorry for how long this is.
