I found marijuana in my son’s room?

My son is 13 years old and started his first year in a new school this year. It’s his first year in middle school as well as his first in public school so I was a little worried that my son might encounter some bad influences. He’s been a good student and even better kid his whole life. I understand it is not as dangerous as other drugs but it is a gateway and illegal. How should I approach this?

Teens really shouldn’t smoke weed because their minds are still developing—I did, but that’s because I didn’t know any better. Personally, I feel that this subject shouldn’t be approached in an accusatory way but more like an expression of concern, discussing the trouble it can bring in his young life (other than interfering with development) simply because it is illegal and therefore a criminal element comes out of that. Decriminalization needs to be set in motion for all states.

@Sp2l3emP34c067 would you feel better if he went to russian roulette parties? Pot is russian roulette to a teen.

Did you not even pay attention to what I said? “Teens really shouldn’t smoke weed because their minds are still developing... bring trouble in his young life.” These are my opinions, man. But It’s not russian roulette, it’s not heroin, stop exaggerating.

It doesn’t matter what I like. These issues aren’t all so black and white. She’s seeking advice and I gave her MY suggestion. I’m done with you, man.
