Why does it seem like so many kids do not have any coping skills these days ?

The only phone my son will get is a flip phone wuth no internet access ..and it will only be used in emergencies @LyricalOne

@SW-User I sure wish more parents did that with their kids and phones! It also teaches them to not be sheep

@Fernie It's a constant battle with my son . He wants to do the same things as his friends and some of the games they play are inappropriate for their age and I don't allow him to play it ...finding a balance with internet use and video games is a chore ...He is not allowed to use the internet during week unless its for school ...weekends he can use his devices for games,but only certain ones ...

@SW-User I can't even imagine what you're up against...trying to do the best thing for him...society is NOT on your side!

@Fernie No it's not ...what's worse is that the schools provide iPad s to all the students to use in school ...it is awful

@SW-User It's a damn shame more parents don't join together and demand the schools support less technology.

@SW-User yes! and therein lies a huge part of the problem. It all started with TV in my opinion. The second one entered the home it became a babysitter. They plunked us down in front of it and we were mesmerized and changed somehow while the parents were freed up. Same thing is happening with these phones

@Fernie agreed ! I was raised by the t.v I find the internet scarier ... My son told me that some kid on his bus was chatting to a stranger online ....These kids are only 10/11 years old ...they have no clue ...quite frankly neither do adults ...it's so scary

@SW-User It's so dangerous! and there is SO much information the kids get that they really cannot handle or comprehend. What the heck will happen if and when someone pulls the plug? I do not regret not having kids. I'd probably have grandkids now and be stressed out every second about their safety

@Fernie You were smart ...not sure what I was thinking ...don't get me wrong I love my son ,but I'm scared for him ...all I can do is try my best to do what I think is right

@SW-User No, it as nothing to do with love...clearly you DO love that boy or you would just give him free reign...I have a feeling he will be just fine CP...really. Scary as hell right now but he'll be OK! He's a lucky boy
