I'm a father and a husband but am still surprised at how many women want to be mothers.

Ladies don't need me to tell them the pain and trauma involved. Obviously it was expected a few generations ago, but why nowadays?

The real pain comes from raising them.

@cherokeepatti I know though we've been comparatively lucky.

@alan20 My mother-in-law had 8 babies, the first weighed 10# and each subsequent one from 4-8 ounces heavier than the one before (last one 13#) and said she suffered with each one. But she said the real pains come when you are raising them.

@alan20 I think she wanted to have at least that many, her father had 14 kids but from 3 wives (he was a widowerX2)
