Yep !
And learn how to sew a button on.
And how to do the basics of cleaning.
And how to iron.
And how to hang wallpaper.
And how to fix your cistern.
And how to manage money.
And know their basic rights and responsibilities under the law.
And to know what it means to be a carer for somebody unable to help themselves.

To my mind these are basic life skills.

@Picklebobble2 Hmm....missed the lesson on cistern repair. 🤔

@LyricalOne Real simple to do. Requires a wooden spoon and a piece of string !
Save you a fortune in cowboy plumbers !

@Picklebobble2 I helped my grandmother with in home care giving at 12 years old. May I ask what a "cistern" is? 🤔 Hanging wallpaper is no easy task, some adults are lousy at it! 😯😄

@LyricalOne I don't even know what it is?! 😟

@Peaches A Cistern is the plumbing mechanism for your toilet.
The bit that fills after you flush !

@Picklebobble2 Excellent list! Spot on!! So many kids now...well, those things are foreign to them

@Picklebobble2 My mom was very adamant that I at least learn how to sew on buttons, but that's the extent of my sewing knowledge. XD

@ScrewThisImDone Yes same here !
Don't have too much to thank my folks for but they did insist I learn all that !
My father taught me how to check and refill the oil in the car; how to change the oil out; fit a new filter etc. how to troubleshoot problems with plumbing or heating....
