For gay parents, i want to underatand gay parenting / fmaily dynamics? How do you explain to your child zbout their missing biological parent ?

My 8 and 13 yr old are now learning some kids can have two moms or dads and asked me,how is that possible. Specially one a baby comes from mommy and daddy so what happens to the mommy or daddy? How can thos kids be born with mommy or daddy?

Just tell them the truth. Keep it simple and factual.
Kids are able to grasp more than we give them credit for

@Salix75 the truth for me kids only come from mom and dad being together. All i could tell them that there is only one reall mom and dad. Other person is just an adoptive. And either the real mom or dad is no longer in their lives...

@aaaabbbb anyone can be a mother or a father... that's down to biological function. but not everyone can be a mum or dad...that's more of an emotional kind of thing. I know it's semantics, but based on what you say it may play a role. I don't think an adoptive parent is "just" and adoptive parent... they are choosing to take on an important role in raising that child.

I really don't think it needs to be complicated
