Is it normal to have a favorite relative?

When I was younger I HATED family get together because I have this one cousin who I see once in a while and I've only had bad memories. She would play too rough and was horrible. We would fight sometimes. That's why I dreaded family reunions until we got older. I avoided her a lot at the next reunion when I was 9 because I though she would ship me off to space or dress me up like a baby again. She showed me the tap dancing dance she learned and that's why she has been trying to get my attention. She revealed that I'm her favorite cousin....well relative. She wanted to learn tap dancing because I did tap dancing and was amazed. We got along better and reconciled. She said the only reason she would come to these "stupid" get togethers is to play with me. Wow...I had no idea I was her favorite. She isn't so bad. We still keep in touch. We tap danced with each other that night and everyone was cheering us on. She's 20 now and I'm 17. We're having another family reunion and I'm excited to see her.

I think it is normal to have a favorite relative. I have a favorite one and even though we don't get to spend as much time together as when we were younger due to jobs and distance we are still very close
