Why do people say a person will change their mind or regret their decision not to have kids?

I’m just saying, I’ve seen plenty of people who are happy and don’t regret their decision to not have kids. Just because you want kids or regretted your decision, that doesn’t mean everyone will. Now stop telling people they will change their mind or regret it. It’s just disrespectful. I feel like you’re basically telling them that they’re so stupid that they can’t form their own views and opinion and only your way is the right way. You’re talking down to them about a personal choice that doesn’t effect you.

I think there is probably something deep inside us, an instinct so to speak that at some level will make us second guess a decision not to have kids.

Not with me. I know it’s best I should not. @Subsumedpat

@666Maggotz You might be right too, I was just thinking that there might be at some level an animal like instinct to want to procreate. I also wonder about old age is that is a place where regrets might creep in. If it is not for you and you recognize that you are probably smarter than most.

@Subsumedpat lol I’m probably broken anyway when it comes to my animal like urges. Maybe that’s a straight person thing 😂

@666Maggotz You could have a point there because it seems the natural urge to procreate is stronger in women. Perhaps gender preferences can effect some of that, though I would not call it broken just different or say normal drives have been vandalized by developing different but not broken.

@Subsumedpat The only time I even thought about my choice was when all my friends were having kids and I felt a little left out. And it wasn't about the kids, it was about feeling like they shared something that I couldn't share. I got over it very quickly, right about the time they were all bitching about their kids. lol

@katielass I am not a good one to say what is normal anyway since I am a bit off

@Subsumedpat Oh you're not any more off than the rest of us. But everyone is different. And speaking of how you feel when you get older. I'm older and nothing has changed for me. Having kids does not guarantee you they will be there for you when you're old. That's no reason to have kids.

Yea saw you were submissive too

@Subsumedpat sometimes you'd never know it. lol

@katielass yea more in keeping with a woman though I guess but we don't get to decide these things.

@Subsumedpat so true. :)
