Would you rather be spanked or grounded for 2 weeks

@StrictMarie Well depending the age of the child whether the parent gets grounded if the child is small yes if you ground the child well so is the parent but after maybe 12 the child can be just grounded.

It may be as you say, but when a 12 13 year old daughter is grownded you don't want to get close to the house. It's pure attitude and agony.

@StrictMarie Well true that when you say change your attitude or you will not be sitting well. Or a few very hard warning swats and say "if you keep this up it will be a real spanking"

So avoiding the entire grounding is the best approach no matter what the child says. It's common sense, grownding alone is no punishment today, it has to include losing all your electronic devices. And to be honest I have to say that is a pretty cruel thing to do, knowing that this is the way most kids interact today.

It's almost like you're bullying your own kids, because everyone knows that they have been grounded, it's impossible to avoid now days.
I will keep saying spanking is the mor human thing to do. Grounding today will lead to more psychological impact then spanking and living life as normal, but with a sore bottom for a few days

@StrictMarie Okay but if the child does not want her things taken away should she not behave a parents reactions is only caused by the child actions.

@StrictMarie Oh I agree a spanking is quicker and faster but for some kids rather the grounding.

@updown2020 it's our responsibility as parents to do what is best for the child, blaming it on the kids is just a lazy thing to do

You as the adult set the consequences for the actions. You can't blame your poor choice on the kids

I'm not saying spanking is the only and it's not the best choice for every child, but grounding, especially older children who have a big circle of friends is really a bad choice

@StrictMarie I don't see grounding older teenagers as bulying them… I use this with mine, it means they're not allowed to use any electronic device. And they're not allowed to go out with friends. I made rules for them and it's a consequence for them if they don't follow the rules, they know it. I must say I only use it for a few days, like a weekend, or max a week.

It's a choice you make, or not. I'm sure if they have the opportunity to chooce they take a spanking.

@StrictMarie My mother never grounded us when we misbehaved. She did, however, sometime send us to our bedroom for a while to wait for the inevitable which was a spanking.
