I Want To Talk About Parenting

My 16 year old daughter really wants a profile on this site. She has seen me enjoying the interactions on the site and really wants to be a part of the community. However, I know that there are several people that I wouldn't want her to associate with.

What do y'all think?

It took me ages to get to my comfort zone here avoiding the obstacle course of unsavoury members.. as adults we can pffft at things and avoid them. But at 16 I wouldn't want her to be here.. I don't want her to get the pms that I got. This place has made me more aware of such things and I know if she's ever on a place like that I'd know what she's up against!! Let's hope she won't and enjoy the regular things teenagers do!!!

@Dusty101 Good points. As adults we've learned a bit more about how to navigate some of these situations. And while if it were my daughter I wouldn't want her here, this isn't the only unsavory place on the internet. Most teens are more technology savvy than their parents. A quick Google type search can reveal plenty more places just like this (or worse). So I think the communication between parent and child is ultimately going to be the safety net.

@ToyMan very true... and now I know from what has pmd me and the like I know what she's up against. She is only 9. But has a musically account. She posts her videos etc... but she knows not to be live chatting with anyone and she doesn't as we check after. I think by the time she's 16... she'll be in the know and have her head screwed on. So whatever site she's on she can dodge a perve or troll with ease! Fingers crossed!!

@Dusty101 Yep, just have to look after and monitor what they do. Teach them how to avoid the unsavory and bask in the wealth of information that's at their fingertips. :)
