you will have to run a power line out for the battery charger to keep the batteries charged up.

@trackboy it's cool tho hunh
trackboy · 26-30, M
@SW-User yes is cool. lead acid batteries need to be kept charged or they don't last long and wont charge anymore.

SW-User
@trackboy idk about batteries but the truck looks very nice specially with the lights
trackboy · 26-30, M
@SW-User it does look nice. batteries will run down faster with the lights. will need to keep them on the charger when he is not driving it to keep them at full charge most of the time so they will last longer.

@trackboy your a pretty smart guy. Hope you dont think i failed with those important factors. I ran all the 10g wires to the front under the hood. Both 12v 35Ah rear batteries(rechargable) connect to one female plug which plugs into the male end of a 24v charger when needed. The headlights wires come up under the hood aswell and connect to the 12v battery that came with the truck and the hesdlights themselves are top notch halogens 12v lamps that i connected to a rocker on/off switch i installed on the dashboard.
So under the hood are the electrical plugs.
That sucker is ready to spin those tires all day with one full charge
😎 😁 😉 👍

@Luvbuttz so the truck came with a 12 volt battery, and now that battery is being used just for head lights. and now you have a pair of 12 volt batteries in series for 24 volts for the motor?? ran it for a while to make sure the motor does not burn out?? or did it have option for 24 volts for motor?? you will need a second plug for charging the 12 volt battery for the lights. 10 gauge is good. should plug it back in to charger in between him driving it while he is eating lunch and stuff. those are expensive batteries!!! make sure to keep them charged so they last. it has to go back on the charger each time soon as he is done driving it around. cant forget to plug it in as the sulfation hardens on the battery plates if left discharged for 24 hours. and its best not to take the batteries below half charge. deep discharge is hard on lead acid batteries. i hope you have a regulated charger and not a unregulated charger that will over charge then dry out the batteries. you will need both a 12 volt charger and a 24 volt charger so you are able to charge all 3 batteries at the same time.

@trackboy you are a very bright young man. Im impressed. Your parents must be proud of you! 👍
I am aware of what you have pointed out and i asure you all that has been tested and the proper chargers are available. The rear batteries are for an electric wheelchair and got them 2 for one price and they are perfect for the motors but they did have a strong kick so i had to secure the motors. Now isnstead of the jolting kick, the wheels just spin out kicking up dirt. Now if they run on pavement i would need to replace the tires regularly but the yard is about half acre of grass and dirt. Its awesome because it came with an am/fm radio powered by 4 C batteries.
Its gonna be an awesome ride.. Perfect timing because I just got my car out of the shop .

@SW-User !!! Hello. Good to see you.. And yea this guy is a very bright young man..
trackboy · 26-30, M
@Luvbuttz good you have the battery chargers for both batteries. remember to keep them charged. even getting them cheap you need to keep them charged so they last. was probally a one time deal getting two for price of one. now if you could find a high current 4 pole double throw center off switch you can have one direction the batteries are in parallel for low, and the other direction they are in series for high. then you would throw it into low to start going then once going throw it into high for more speed. that way tires wont spin so much and you will have two speeds to choose from.
trackboy · 26-30, M
@Luvbuttz good it has two speeds with gear shift for high and low gear. low gear will be handy for going up steep hills that would stall it out in high gear. i am guessing the electronic braking is a switch hooked to pedal that disconnects power from the motor and shorts the motor leads so the motor then puts big drag as its being turned and putting out current as a generator until it stops moving. nice having fm radio on it. no am radio for listening to coast to coast am on it???
Luvbuttz · M
@trackboy no coasting bud.. the axle has teeth and when the electric tical flow stops generating electricity it stops rotating the axle in which the tires stop.. on pavement it slides across the driveway with a spin fishtail.. he was on it earlier but they had to go show his great gra'ma his honor role certificate and he'll be back to run the lights.. I think I'm just as exited as he is.. radio..headlights with max speed.. the hairs on my arm are standing up!
Luvbuttz · M
@trackboy it isn't shorting out anything it's just cutting the power... In order to short something out you need more power than it can handle and I looked up the motors just before he got on.. double checked everything . It's perfect. Hey bud.. u seem to underestimate me looking for a flaw in my upgrade.. are u trying to blow my high? Knock it off.. it's well created and everything is professionally put together.
Thanks for you opinions!

@Luvbuttz its a permmenant magnet motor. it works as a brake when the terminals are shorted together. that is what the switch in the pedal is doing. when its down the batteries feed power to the motor. when its up the battery is disconnected and the motor wires are shorted together to make it stop real fast. is a common way to stop dc permanent magnet motors really fast.
trackboy · 26-30, M
@Luvbuttz you never noticed how turning on the head lights on your car makes the engine slow a little when at idle?? or how the alternator belt will slip for a few seconds after starting the car because the battery is drawing so much power that it makes the alternator put more drag on the engine and belt?? or started and stopped a battery powered electric drill?? or hooked two toy motors together. power one. and then with it turning the other toy motor put a clip lead across the terminals and hear it slow down and feel the torque as you hold them in your hands???
Luvbuttz · M
@trackboy dude.. fix your car.. there is no reason why it should do that.. your electrical runs off the battery and once the car is on its electrical source comes from the alternator . Start your car and when it's running unplug the battery.. if you car turns off .. it needs a new voltage regulator or an alternator . I thought u were smart but ur looking up stuff irrelevant to the truck.. I g2g now we're about to kick the truck into gear.. save urself the headache and fix ur car
trackboy · 26-30, M
@Luvbuttz starting the car discharges the battery. takes a little bit to charge up the battery after starting a car. thus there is a lot of resistance on the alternator to the belt as its being turned. any generator takes more torque to turn it under load then under no load. once there is no power to a dc motor that is turning it works as a generator until it stops turning. shorting the terminals causes current flow and a lot of resistance to turning so it stops fast. unplug the motor and then measure the resistance between the two wires to the motor coming from the pedal. you will find that when the pedal is up the two wires are shorted together. its just a double throw switch in the pedal. down the motor is fed by the battery. up the motor terminals are disconnected from battery and connected together. you don't want to pull the battery out of your car when its running as it smooth's out fluctuations in voltage. you risk damaging electronics in the car if you pull the battery when its running.

@trackboy i said unplug the battery not take it out.dude ... We are way off topic here ese.. Everything youre telling me im aware of just you version needs a lil fine tuning.ANYWAY MY GRANDSON HAD A BLAST.. THOZE HEADLIGHTS LIT UP ABOUT 12-15 FEET AHEAD OF HIM... HE WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE BACK YARD AROUND THE BACK HOUZE BETWEEN THE TREEZ.. THEN ALL I COULD SEE WAZ THE HEADLIGHTS AND I CAN HEAR HIS RADIO AS HES COMING AROUND THE CORNER AND HIS BIG SMILE... THAT WAS ALL WORTH IT... A PRICELESS MOMENT!
