I hate when parents pull the "I give you a roof and put food on the table" and similar responses

That's because you're supposed to.
You chose to have and keep the kids.
You're obligated to give us a home and basic necessities
Not trying to sound ungrateful but to all the parents; YOU signed up for this. Not us.
