child custody

i have custody of my son. we went to court and everything. well, i need proof of that. problem is that the case was heard around 10 years ago and i am no longer living in the same state. is there a way i can get a certificate or proof that i have custody? how?

You went to court. Contact THAT courthouse. You will need to sign a release of records (they will then ship the filed paperwork to you), and pay whatever their fee is.

Not all public records are available for copying off the net because not all court clerk's offices have digitized them. You will have to call the clerks' office and give them the info and have them do the search. Mail them a check or give them your CC# so they have the payment by the time they find the file. They will mail it to you. Specify whether you need it certified or not.

Why would you need it. ..you have their birth certificate and I assume he has your last name

Can't you contact your old lawyer

every county has a clerk of courts. google it or call. they can direct you. but you should be able to get it online or a certified copy for a fee.

Look at your county public records online or go to e-file and do a search by name and case type.
Check the docket number in the Court's website.
