Do you think my sons need an older male role model?

Their father lives in another state, and wants nothing to do with his kids.

Yes. Having a mom and dad are both equally important for kids, especially young men. They need someone to show them what it means to be a man, to respect women, to step up when it’s needed, etc. Everybody who’s successful in life has some sort of mentor showing them the way

Definately if there is no father at home to spend time with them and model that role. Good male role models can be found in the Cub and Boy Scouts, the Civil Air Patrol cadet program, the Big Brothers, little league and soccer teams, and most church youth programs. They have all upgraded their Child Protection Policies in recent years, and all official volunteers have undergone certain background checks. But be super diligent and do your own checks and get comfortable with these men before you let your kids out of your sight. PM me if you need more info.

Positive male role models are very important for their development into men.

I have nothing to do with my father and every man that’s ever tried to fill that roll has been entirely unwanted.
What a prick of a man. Yes it would be so good for them to have a male role model.
