Kids and snow pants

I’ve noticed that a lot of other students at my daughters’ school don’t wear snow pants. My daughters are in 6th and 4th grade and snow pants are a part of their winter clothes, they usually wear them whenever they go outside. Why does it seem like only younger children ever wear snow pants?
