At what age should parents stop walking their children to the bus stop?

I have two daughters who are 12 and 10 years old. Every morning the three of us walk to the school bus stop together. Most of the other children who still walk with their parents are younger than my daughters.

Are they within view? Not so sure about the 10 year old. The world has changed from when we were young.

@Keepitsimple No it’s about a 10 minute walk to the bus stop

@SingleMother hmmmm. For me that wouldn’t work.

@Keepitsimple If I could see the bus stop I would let them go by themselves

@SingleMother yes my thoughts exactly. My kids are grown now but I never was a helicopter mom. I did the common sense thing and relied on my gut.

@Keepitsimple I have been told that I’m a “helicopter mom” which frustrates me because I just want to do what’s best for my girls

Your kids, your rules. Do what makes you feel comfortable while also teaching them independence.@SingleMother
