Any Single Mum's with young boy's with ADHD?

My 9 year old boy has recently been diagnosed with ADHD.
My ex is not interested in meds..he believes that Our Son needs to exercise more..and add more activities out of school.
My heart breaks for my boy..He has learning issues and performance is low. This has affected his self confidence and does not want to go to school...
I could go on and on..
I feel like shit most of the time because he is struggling.
We have an appointment with a Behavior Specialists in a few weeks.
Hopefully she can set me in the right direction.

I've worked with dozens of kids with ADD over the years. For some the medication works in a way it helps them focus and concentrate ...kind of slows them down a little. For others the medication seems to affect them too much and they seem unfocused in other ways! For many, keeping them busy and finding outlets for their energies no doubt helps but its also worth noting that an ADHD child may also have other issues that the ADD can mask.
