We don’t cut off other pieces of our anatomy at birth. I don’t see why we should treat foreskins differently.

If you look it up you'll see there's actually wealth of info about why on the internet, library's, and among most well trained medical professionals in advanced post industrial societies that can explain this to you if you really care to know.

@SteelHands Only two first world economies routinely cut off the foreskin of a majority of boys, for secular reasons: South Korea and.... the USA. USA doctors are out on a limb here.

@consa01 It's not that difficult to get a grip on why it's done.

The folds of skin and glandular secretions. The extra sheath of skin that protects an unclothed animal becomes a problem for someone that wears clothing.

That increases temperature that in turn raises the chance of infectious microbes that can and will cause increased chance of skin diseases and infections of the urinary tract.

Just trying to help someone from having their dick rot isn't going out on any limb.

@SteelHands I live in a country where circumcision used to be practiced, then was gradually given up, 1960-85. No reports of dick rot.
No evidence that the foreskin is a problem for clothed men. There are no glands that void into the preputial sack. Smegma and the like is mostly dead skin cells, and washes away very very easily. Washing also removes bacteria. I live in a region with a population of 550K. There is only one urology practice in this region, serving both genders. So much for infections of the foreskin and urinary tract being common problems among the intact. The very occasional infection responds well to antibiotic and antifungal ointments.
The foreskin is not the health problem that American popular culture often thinks it is.

@consa01 I work a physically laborious job. Moisture from sweat, the probability of fungus and infection from daily filth are part of a workmans life. As is so for many.

That I already take great precautions so that I don't get an infection or worse and am quite happy that I won't get such things and do not need to worry about things like the cancer I KNOW a few did is all the evidence I could want.

It is a vestige of a bygone time, as I said. A simple, fast, inexpensive, likely painless ring set placing done within hours of birth in my culture just seems prudent and reasonable.

It's a harmless procedure. One that ppl who are opposed to, I'm aware. Yet I am glad not to have to put up with the drawback of not having.

@SteelHands I began my career working first in an aluminum foundry, later in a steel forge shop. My being intact was in no way an inconvenience. In the forge shop, at the end of every shift, we showered as a group in an open shower room. Most of the men were born before WWII and were uncircumcised. Zero evidence of foreskin problems.
In men who shower 4x+/week and who don't have adult phimosis, penile cancer is quite rare. Penile cancer is mostly caused by an HPV infection, and such infections require irresponsible sex.
It is routine circumcision that is the "vestige of a bygone time".
Circumcision is not prudent and reasonable, because there is no honest counting of the botched and lethal outcomes. In the USA, a large majority of routine infant circumcisions are done without anesthesia, an unconscionable situation. Worst of all, how infant circumcision affects adult sexuality is not known, because of a lack of research. Many American and Canadian women whose personal sexual journey has included relationships with both kinds of men, have revealed in social media that they prefer the intact variety. I have read women say that they almost never orgasm with a cut man, and orgasm easily with an intact one. I strongly suspect that the circumcised penis ages more rapidly.
