Still trying to get my neice of sucking her thumb

Tried some of the sudjetions to no avail. Nail varnish didnt bother her in the slightest, not going to try the hot sause. Finding other thing to distract worked for a while but she lost intrest quickly.

I've had similar issue with a child the same age. Is she sucking her thumb to relieve boredom or tension? Maybe because she is insecure? Or is she just doing it to soothe herself to sleep?

Maybe try to talk to her about it, and let her be involved in choosing the method to help her stop sucking her thumb. I think an older child has to want to stop willingly to completly break the habit.

@Miajackson Maybe go see a dentist about it. He might be able to give her something for when she's asleep. That way she won't be damaging her teeth. :)
