I Miss My Mother

Do any of you whose moms have passed, have dreams about her where it's present day and your mom is still alive? I do, used to be about twice a week, up to two years after my mom died. Then it tapered off for a while. Now, two nights in a row I've dreamed about her, just doing normal everyday things like cooking, errands, etc. When I wake up, I'm always stunned. I feel like the dream was real. Then I'm shocked back into present day, when she really is gone.

Am I the only one?

I don't dream about mom or at least if I do, I don't remember my dreams, but after 12 years, I still start to pick up the phone to tell her the latest news about her grandchildren or now even great grandchildren. The realization that she is not there to call leaves an unpleasant pause. I believe the sheer busyness of life graciously prevents me from dwelling on that unpleasant pause and all the calls I should have made while she was still here. Unlike my mom, I don't wait for my children to do the calling. I want them to never feel an unpleasant pause when they remember me. Much prefer that the memory makes them laugh. With me or at me, makes no difference. Very thought provoking story.

no i do that as well. i think maybe its her way of letting her know shes watching. mine is always doing boring stuff with me in my dreams or she has no speaking part in the dream, yet my dream self is really aware of how awesome it is just to have her around. it sucks that she's not there when i wake up. yeah its disappointing but i think its such a blessing to have dreams of her because its so real its like getting to spend one more day with her. idk maybe im weird but thats how i look @ it from my dreams

I've often thought that way too.

yes. I asked Santa Claus to make sure I have one of those dreams for Christmas. I frequently have one of those dreams where it was just a mistake that my mommy died. I want to dream about her so I can hug her and kiss her. I miss her so much. sometimes I have those dreams just when I miss her and I need a mommy fix.

You're so young! I'm so sorry you're going through this as a kid. I was 35 and I felt like an orphan. Hugs to you.

It's not so much that I dream of my mother.. It's more like for a split second I forget she's gone. It's been almost 4 years since she's passed and when something funny happens I'll still pick up my phone to call and tell her about it.

I'll never take my mom's number out of my phone.

I know.. Her number is still there. I'd be lying if I didn't try calling it every now and then even though the number is disconnected.

No my mom has been gone 11 years and I still dream about her. Not as much as I did around the time it happened though. Most of the time the dream isn't pleasant but I enjoy seeing her again.

My mom is usually criticizing me in my dreams, which was typical of our relationship.

Yea at first I had dreams like that and when I'd first wake up I would forget she was dead but when I learned more details about her suicide the dreams turned into nightmares and now I dread falling asleep
