Phone call with my dad today.

So I’ve shared here before that my dad calls me every morning just to see how I’m doing. Mostly it’s just that but sometimes he’s just so full of nonsense.

So today he calls me to see if I’m going over for Easter. I said yeah and if he needed me to bring anything. He then tells me that my mom is mad at him because he’s driving to Arizona tomorrow to place some bets on the playoffs and asks what he should do.

I’m laughing and telling him not to go. He got mad and told me he was looking for a serious answer. I said don’t go. Then he got mad and started talking about the Lakers not making it and how he doesn’t even care anymore.

Then asked me if I wanted to go with him. Lol. I said invite mom instead. So my dad’s one day gambling degenerate day trip is now a 3-day vacation for them. My mom is happy but my dad just spent $1200 on a hotel and flight. So he’s not happy. Lol

Perhaps it's those moments of conversation with your dad you cherish. Hold onto those memories while you have them. Cherish them because they don't always come often for others.
I enjoyed the end, after that whole conversation ended up being a 3 day vacation stay for your mom and dad 😃.

@Sharon1 Crazy, but involved. Wish I had that

You should have gone with him when he asked! My father use to invite me to join him on 3 day business trips when I was in my early 20's where he'd get me my own hotel room beside his room. When he would attend his business meetings by day, I'd hit the beach or go shopping and then we'd have dinner together later on.

@swirlie you’re not a nice person
@Sharon1

And neither are your parents nice people. They have deluded you into believing that dysfunctional behavior as demonstrated by two inept parents is not only normal, but became totally okay for them to demonstrate their dysfunctional behavior in front of their children.

You are the beneficiary of your parent's ineptitude at creating a healthy family environment as evidenced by you unloading your family's bullshit drama on this website for everyone to read.

Obviously your family situation bothers you or you wouldn't feel the need to project your family's dirty laundry as you have done, as if trying to rid yourself of it permanently. It didn't work. You still carry your father's dysfunctional mentality on your back as you attempt to 'normalize' what you have otherwise come to know as 'normal behavior' within your family unit. It's ain't normal, okay? Your dad is not a nice guy to his family.

@swirlie you’re a miserable loser. You’re the only one who reacted like this. I feel sorry for whatever you’re going through that made you make a lighthearted story into such a big deal. I hope you find happiness one day.
