I’m in the office today but Chiara is with friends

I packed her a lunch but she didn’t want to come to work today because she wanted to see her friends before they went on vacation. I feel sure that there’s another reason why but I just don’t want to be smothering. I’m trusting her to be sensible and to come here to me if she needs to.

She has keys to our apartment so she can go home and call me if she’s feeling lonely and I can join her. I’m just scared that she’s so vulnerable at her age. I have tried to acquaint her with my worries but it’s whether an almost-teen wants to listen to her Mama. I was a rebel myself so…..
