My youngest is the closest to me

I love all 4 of my kids, that goes without saying. All of mine are adopted and we’ve had them all since very early childhood. The youngest was still a baby when we adopted her, so maybe for that reason alone she is the most like me and the one I enjoy hanging out with the most. She’s 13 now, but she’s been my shadow since she was old enough to walk. Wherever I go, she always wants to be there. Fishing, hunting, rock climbing it doesn’t matter she makes sure to be involved.
Of course I do stuff with the other 3, but they seem to be wrapped up in their own little world and it’s like pulling teeth to get them to do anything fun.
Last summer I had to go to the emergency room late at night for rabies shots. No big deal, but my daughter wouldn’t let me go without her. We were there until 2AM and she refused to let me out of her sight. I had to go back for follow up shots multiple times and she always wanted to go too. The nurses down there were always laughing at the way we joke and poke fun at each other. One of the nurses asked me what happened that I was getting rabies shots, before I could answer my daughter said
“It was a baby raccoon! He’s so embarrassing, it couldn’t have been something cool like a bear or a wolf!”
To that I answered
“Keep it up you little shit and I’ll bring you back to the used kid store!”
Everyone busted out laughing, nurses, patients, everyone. On the way out the door one of the nurses said to me
“We always look forward to you guys coming in, it’s so awesome the way you two goof around. It brightens up everyone’s day.”
