I Love Kids And The Funny Things They Say

I met a very serious little man this morning at church - he was about four years old. He was looking at a toy truck he had with him so I commented that it was a pretty nice truck. He looked at me and said, "its ok. I like my train more."

I asked him why did didn't bring his train with him that day and he said very seriously with a bit of a frown on his face, "My train is broke."

"Oh no, what's wrong with it?" I asked.

He thought for a moment, sighed and he said "I don't know. I have to see if I can fix it."

Just then his mom called him and he ran off. It was a few minutes later when I felt him tug on my skirt. He looked up at me and what came out of his mouth sounded just like a grown up, "...now, where was I?"

I had to bite my tongue not to laugh. We had a chat for awhile about why trains were better than trucks. I felt like I learned a lot.

I am curious to find out if his train is fixed next week. I wouldn't be surprised if it is.

I think most kids have a serious side, it's just that most adults are too serious to notice, or take them seriously. It's cool what you did. You made his stuff feel as important as his stuff is.
