I Actually Like My In-laws
They come from a different cultural background so of course like most parents they didn't think of me as a serious member of the family. Before I had a kid my mother-in-law actually hated me, cause I was weird and awkward. She doesn't know much english so we didn't talk at all. But when I had a son she started to be more fond of me and to this day I'm still a bit overwhelmed by her affection.
My husband's mother is a very strict person and I rarely see her smile but now she's always happy to see me and understands that I'm not shy on purpose. I never disliked her because I knew deep down she just needed time to warm up.
I always give people time to know me, because a lot of people judge by what they see, some like me and other's never do. But I'm learning to accept that.
