I was this age the first it happened, we got home after my appointment. The doctor said I was faking, doing everything for attention. My mother was not happy.
That first time she hit me is something I can't forget. She sat me down on a stool and said this is your last chance. I didn't know what she meant in a few minutes later I had a tic. Almost as soon as the tic was over she slapped me across the face so hard I fell off the chair.
My father picked me up and sat me on the chair again. Another tic and slap. I was so afraid from that day forward.
I know I'm far from prefect as a father but I do know my children will never live in fear like I did. Never feel that pain I felt. Never be hungry like I was.
